Middle school dance: what to wear

Trying to pick out an outfit for a middle school dance can be really hard.I thought I had figured out what to wear for my Middle School Valentine's Dance when I found a beautiful vintage chic dress that had a black sparkly top and a dusty rose skirt that I looked great in. Then I found out that this dance was directly after school so you couldn't wear a dress. I was crushed! So I went shopping with my co-author/ best friend to find the perfect outfit. I knew that a t-shirt would not be acceptable so I started out the trip by searching for the perfect tank because I knew it would get hot when I was dancing in the gym,but every tank that I found was way too summery. I was giving up by time I got to Gap, then hidden in clearance track like a rhinestone in a bowl of black buttons. An asymmetrical ruffled gold tank that was absolutely beautiful and made me look tanner than I really am. I knew it was perfect so I started looking for pants. I really wanted a skinny pant that had a pop of color, so I picked out a really cute pair of fuchsia skinny jeans that looked really good with the gold in my tank.Add a simple fish tail braid and voila the perfect outfit. So here are some tips for looking your best at your dance

 1. If you know for a fact that your dance is not formal than a tank definitely is the way to go because you can dress it up or down.

 2. If you have a neutral colored tank try going for a pair of colored jeans to add a fun element to your outfit.

 3. Metallic materials are great.

 4. Make sure you can move around in your outfit.

 5. Most importantly have fun with your outfit, don't play it safe!!!

 6. Also be sure to have your hair pulled back from your face.

    Hey monkey lover definitely! A skirt would look very pretty. My only word of advice is to make sure if you pair it with a tank that the tank is not flowy. :)

      Honestly you will probably be burning up after a few fast songs~especially gangnamstyle!! :) So like maddy said, try some tanks. You would definitely want to go with a tighter top if you are wearing a skirt. Jeggings or ultra skinnys look great with flowy tanks. I know how hard it can be to pass up aero sweaters~they are pretty awesome! If you know that your dance is casual and will play a lot of faster songs you might want to consider switching the skirt for a pair of jeggings; this way you can wear a looser tank that will breathe easier. American Eagle has a ton of awesome tanks...you might want to check there.

    Quite honestly monkey lover you probably will get hot so try to go for a shorter sleeve option. A compromise is to during the day wear the sweater with whatever bottoms you were thinking about and then before the dance change into the tank :) hope that helps

    Should I wear makeup for my afterschool dance

      I'm guessing you are in middle school, so I would say yes but not a lot. The amount of makeup you wear depends on yor style. I personally don't think a lot of makeup is neccasarry (doubt i spelled that right (;) but a little blush, DEFINITELY lip gloss, and maybe a little mascara if you really want to be fancy. Since your dance is after school, just cover up any blemishes you may have with foundation the morning of and pack a lip gloss tube to reapply before the dance. It will probably be pretty dark during the dance so nobody will be able to tell if you have on makeup or not. Hope this helps ;)

    I am wearing only lip gloss just because I'm not a big fan of makeup and don't ever wear it. It's just my opinion. If you do just make sure it's light and you don't have massive amounts of makeup on your face :)
